A few days ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice on Suspending the Replacement of Iron and Steel Production Capacity (No.327 of the original letter of the Office of Industry and Information Technology [2024]), requiring that from August 23, 2024, the new replacement plan of iron and steel production capacity be suspended and announced nationwide, and violators will be regarded as new illegal iron and steel production capacity and notified. This is aimed at revising and improving the replacement policy of iron and steel production capacity to meet the new requirements of green, low-carbon and structural adjustment in the industry. The revision is being accelerated and will be implemented after extensive consultation.
