On October 6, the Zhundong Economic Development Zone in Xinjiang issued a reply to the investigation report on the "7.18" general high fall accident of the Shaanxi Chemical Construction High Purity Silicon Construction and Installation Project Department. The investigation report showed that on July 18 this year, a high fall accident occurred at the construction site of the Qiya Group polysilicon project in the Zhundong Economic Development Zone in Xinjiang. The accident resulted in one death and a direct economic loss of 2.49 million yuan.
After investigation, it was found that the accident was caused by the illegal operation of high-altitude workers, but the accident occurred in enterprises with underreport. Before the accident, the site had repeatedly found that the construction personnel had violated the rules and regulations, and was required to strictly supervise the rectification.
It is reported that the Zhundong Project of the Asian Group was signed at the 7th Asia-Europe Expo in September 2022, with a total investment of 16 billion yuan. It is planned to build a high-purity polysilicon project with an annual output of 200,000 tons. The project is planned to be carried out in two phases. The first and second phases are to build a high-purity silicon production line with an annual output of 100,000 tons.
According to its Asian official website, on July 26, the first phase of its 100,000 tons polysilicon project , which lasted one year, has entered the countdown to trial production, and is expected to be commissioned during the National Day of 2023. The second phase of the project was officially started on August 1 and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2024.
