On November 16, Shanghai Electric announced that Ms. Leng Weiqing, the chairman of the board of directors, would no longer serve as the chairman, director, chief executive officer, chairman and member of the strategic committee of the company due to job transfer. In July
2021, Zheng Jianhua, former chairman of Shanghai Electric, was subject to disciplinary review and supervision and investigation by the Shanghai Discipline Commission for suspected serious violations of discipline. The following month, Leng Weiqing was appointed chairman and chief executive officer of Shanghai Electric.
During Leng Weiqing's tenure, Shanghai Electric Group focused on the development of new energy business, and established a new energy development company in July last year to manage the development of new energy resources. In December of the same year, the company once again set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, the hydrogen generation era, to develop the business of hydrogen production equipment.
According to media reports, Leng Weiqing will join SIIC Group after leaving Shanghai Electric, which was registered in Hong Kong in 1981 and has now developed into a large-scale integrated enterprise integrating medicine, infrastructure, real estate, consumer goods and other businesses.
