Energy Production
in October 2023 In October, the production of major energy products in industries above designated size continued to maintain year-on-year growth. Compared with September, the growth of raw coal and crude oil production accelerated, while the growth of natural gas and electricity production slowed down.
1. Production of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas and related situations
The growth rate of raw coal production has accelerated, and the import has increased rapidly. In October, 390 million tons of raw coal were produced, up 3.8% year-on-year, 3.4 percentage points faster than in September, with an average daily output of 12.54 million tons. Coal imports were 35.99 million tons, up 23.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 4.5 percentage points lower than that in September.
From January to October, 3.83 billion tons of raw coal were produced, up 3.1% over the same period last year. Coal imports 380 million tons, an increase of 66.8% over the same period. The growth rate of

crude oil production has accelerated slightly, and imports have maintained a relatively rapid growth. In October, crude oil production was 17.33 million tons, up 0.5% year-on-year, 0.2 percentage points faster than in September, with an average daily output of 559,000 tons. Imports of crude oil were 48.97 million tons, up 13.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points slower than that in September.
From January to October, 174.05 million tons of crude oil were produced, up 1.7% year-on-year. Imports of crude oil 473 million 220 thousand tons, an increase of 14.4% over the same period.
Crude oil processing maintained steady growth. In October, 63.93 million tons of crude oil were processed, up 9.1% year-on-year, 2.9 percentage points slower than in September, with an average daily processing of 2.062 million tons of crude oil. From January to October, 618.76 million tons of crude oil were processed, up 11.2% year-on-year.

Natural gas production remained stable and import growth accelerated. In October, 19 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped by 6.7 percentage points compared with September, with an average daily output of 610 million cubic meters. Imports of natural gas were 8.79 million tons, up 15.5% year-on-year, 15.1 percentage points faster than in September.
From January to October, 189.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, up 6.1% year-on-year. Imports of natural gas 96.51 million tons, an increase of 8.8% over the same period.

2. Power production
Power production grew steadily. In October, power generation was 704.4 billion kWh, up 5.2% year-on-year, 2.5 percentage points slower than in September, with an average daily power generation of 22.72 billion kWh. From January to October, power generation was 7,333 billion kwh, up 4.4% year on year.
In terms of varieties, in October, the growth rate of thermal power and solar power accelerated, the growth rate of hydropower fell, the growth rate of nuclear power changed from increase to decrease, and the decline rate of wind power expanded. Among them, thermal power increased by 4.0%, 1.7 percentage points faster than September; hydropower increased by 21.8%, 17.4 percentage points lower than September; nuclear power decreased by 0.2%, 6.7 percentage points lower than September; wind power decreased by 13.1%, 11.5 percentage points higher than September; Solar power increased by 15.3%, 8.5 percentage points faster than in September.

Note
1. Explanation
of indicators Average daily output of products: It is calculated by dividing the total output of industrial enterprises above designated size published in the current month by the calendar days of the month.
2. The statistical caliber of the output data in the statistical scope
report is all industries above the scale, and its statistical scope is industrial enterprises with annual main business income of 20 million yuan or more.
As the scope of industrial enterprises above designated size changes every year, in order to ensure that the data of this year is comparable to that of the previous year, the figures of the same period used to calculate the year-on-year growth rate of various indicators such as product output are consistent with the statistical scope of enterprises in this period, and there are differences in caliber with the data published in the previous year.
3. Data source
The import data comes from the General Administration of Customs, of which the October 2023 data is the express data.
4. Natural gas unit conversion relationship: 1 ton equals about 1,380 cubic meters.
